We live in a society full of copies. We mimic each other in style, clothing, hair, and in many other ways. We are a society driven to outdo each other and reach the top of a never ending popularity contest. Magazines, social networks, and the media tells us what is trending and we unquestionably obey. This only results in more copies of the same ideas and outlooks. Each and every person is different on the inside. Everyone has unique characteristics in them and about them. Society has the potential to do some extraordinary things, but copying each other is not the way to reach this potential.
I believe society needs to be refreshed and stop the unnecessary want to be like everyone else. I believe that past the makeup caked on faces and behind every stroke of mascara there is a lady that has a voice to be heard and unique talents to use. I believe that behind every late night to the gym, every effort to keep that “tough guy” reputation, and beyond every outburst of anger there is a genuine man with courage and leadership to be extraordinary.
The task is difficult, and it’s not something anybody eagerly wants to do. It will cost vulnerability, embarrassment, and much courage. It’s going to be one of the hardest things at times, but I promise it’s worth it.
Be authentic. Be the person you knew you could always be. Let your emotions speak, and be that passionate person that has been hiding deep within you. I’m not expecting the copies to go away overnight. It’s going to take time and perseverance. The secret is to encourage others and spread the word. We don’t have to play the popularity game for the rest of forever. We can be more, do more, and create more. Society needs a good dose of authenticity and it can all start with you. If you let truth consume you, and block out everything. Go to the root of why we do what we do. Is there a simpler, less competitive way of living? Is there a more quiet and peaceful lifestyle to pursue out there? Are we as a society missing out on a deeper and more meaningful way to live? These are questions only you can answer, and you already known the answer. Changing can be a challenge, bit are you up for it? Can you be more than what society demands you to be? Are you authentic, or could you be?
